Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), India. He is the son of Harivansh Rai Bachchan, a renowned Hindi poet, and Teji Bachchan. Amitabh initially studied at Sherwood College in Nainital and later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University.

 

He entered the Indian film industry in the late 1960s and made his debut in the film Saat Hindustani (1969), though his breakthrough came with the 1973 film Zanjeer, where his role as the "Angry Young Man" made him a star. Over the years, he became the face of the Indian film industry, starring in numerous blockbusters across genres, including Sholay, Deewaar, Don, and Shahenshah. He has received various accolades, including six National Film Awards and a record number of Filmfare Awards.

 

Amitabh is also known for his television presence, notably as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, India's version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?.
