Dr. Arun Bahl was born on January 18, 1945, in Jalandhar, Punjab. He completed M.Sc. (Honours) in Chemistry from Punjab University, then pursued an M.S. at Northeastern University in Boston, USA, followed by a Ph.D. from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. After returning to India, he joined Punjab University in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology and later served as Professor of Organic Chemistry.

Over the years, he became known for authoring student-friendly, exam-oriented chemistry textbooks with clear explanations and step-by-step mechanisms, used widely in university coursework and competitive preparation.
