Born in Kerala in 1949, Dr. Radhakrishnan pursued engineering and management before joining India’s space programme. He built his career across multiple ISRO centres, gaining experience from ground operations to mission leadership.

 

 

He rose to become ISRO Chairman during one of its most challenging yet successful eras. Under his leadership, India launched Mangalyaan, a mission that surprised the world with its low cost and high success, showcasing India’s engineering excellence.

 

 

He strengthened launch vehicle capabilities, expanded satellite services for weather, telecommunications and disaster management, and pushed India into deep-space exploration.
