Chambers earned a business degree at West Virginia University, followed by a law degree and an MBA at Indiana University. He began his career at IBM and later moved to Wang Laboratories before joining Cisco in 1991.
In 1995, he became CEO of Cisco Systems and transformed the company into a global leader in networking, security, collaboration, and enterprise technology. Under his leadership, Cisco grew from a few billion in revenue to more than USD 40+ billion, driving global tech infrastructure.
After retiring from Cisco in 2015, Chambers founded JC2 Ventures, focusing on mentoring and investing in startups worldwide. He is an active advocate for entrepreneurship, especially in India and France, and frequently collaborates with governments on digital transformation strategies.
