Divya Bharti (February 25, 1974 – April 5, 1993) was one of Bollywood's most promising actresses whose life was tragically cut short at age 19. Born in Mumbai to insurance officer Om Prakash Bharti and homemaker Meeta Bharti, she made her debut at 16 in Telugu film Bobbili Raja (1990) opposite Venkatesh.

 

She became an overnight superstar with Hindi debut Vishkanya (1991) and delivered back-to-back blockbusters Deewana (1992 – biggest hit of the year), Shola Aur Shabnam (1992), Jigar (1992), and Dhanwaan (1993). Known for her natural beauty, expressive eyes, and effortless charm, she was one of the highest-paid actresses of her time. Secretly married to producer Sajid Nadiadwala in 1992. She died on April 5, 1993, after falling from her balcony (official verdict: accidental death). Her legacy lives on through timeless films and the enduring mystery surrounding her sudden death.
