Biography Details

Shamita Shetty (born February 2, 1979, in Mangalore, Karnataka) is an Indian actress and interior designer, younger sister of Shilpa Shetty. From a Tulu-speaking Bunt family, she graduated with a B.Com from Sydenham College, Mumbai. She debuted in Mohabbatein (2000), winning IIFA Star Debut Award, and appeared in films like Zeher (2005) and Fareb (2005, opposite Shilpa).

After a career hiatus, she gained popularity through reality TV: Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Khatron Ke Khiladi, and Bigg Boss editions (notably runner-up in Bigg Boss OTT 2021). She runs her interior design firm, Golden Leaf, and is known for animal welfare and health advocacy. Unmarried and single, she addressed dating rumors in early 2026, emphasizing she is "single and peaceful." At 47, she focuses on design, wellness, and selective projects.

  • February 2026: Shamita celebrated her 47th birthday with close friends and family (including sister Shilpa Shetty), sparking dating rumors after photos surfaced with techno artist/entrepreneur Deepesh Sharma. A heartfelt birthday post from Deepesh calling her "forever" fueled speculation, but Shamita addressed the buzz on Instagram, stating she is "single and peaceful," dismissing assumptions about her personal life and urging people to "stop being" intrusive.
  •
  • Ongoing: She remains focused on her interior design business (Golden Leaf), animal welfare, and health/wellness content on social media. No new acting or reality TV projects announced in early 2026; emphasis on privacy and self-care post-rumors.
  •
  • Legacy focus: Fans and media continue nostalgic tributes to her Bigg Boss journey and early films like Mohabbatein. She keeps a low-profile but active online presence.
